Important advice on security and safety on the Internet.

1. Protect your password
Your password is more than a key to your online access. If it happens to fall into the wrong hands, someone may pose as you while you are online, use your name in businesses or contracts, perform transactions or modify information of your account.

Your Username and Password are classified information.
LEXIS shall never request your password in a phone call or email which has not been originated by you. Do not respond to any other unsolicited message which requests your password.

No not write your password anywhere.
If you feel the need to write it down, keep it in a place which only you have access to.

Change your password if you suspect that something is not right.
In order to change your LEXIS password, access the main page; in the Sign in block, click on Forgot your Password? and follow the instructions.

To build your password, do not choose personal information that other people may easily find out, for example, your birthday, and the names of your children or your telephone number.

Verify the information on your account.
Regularly verify whether the information in your account is accurate and up-to-date and that no one has changed your data. If, at any moment, you doubt the safety of your password, change it immediately. If you suspect that someone knows the answer to your secret question or any other information requested in the Forgot your Password? form, contact the LEXIS’s accounts security team as soon as possible, through the email security@LEXIS.pro.

Automatic Log On
If you mark the option Memorize Data in this Computer when you enter LEXIS, the session with your username will still be connected even after closing your browser. That will enable you to visit us again without having to introduce your password again.
NOTE: If you are away from your desk for an extended period of time, LEXIS may request your password again.

Do not check the option Memorize Data in this Computer if you:
- Suspect that other people have access to your LEXIS personal pages
- Are using a public/shared computer

To change your preferences, log off from your account, then log on again without checking the option Memorize Date in this Computer.
Before saving or memorizing your password in any browser, plug-in or software, read the security literature of that program or service. Depending on the software, your passwords might become available to anyone who has access to the same computer.

2. Protect your computer
Be proactive in protecting your computer. We recommend some of the most important actions:

Use antivirus software.

- Frequently install all updates of your antivirus.

- Always run your antivirus on files received as attachments to email and software you download from the Internet.

- Deactivate the email option which opens files automatically.

- Do not install unknown programs. Unless you know exactly the function of a program and how it affects your computer, do not install it.

Verify email warnings. You may receive warnings from supposed experts alerting you on viruses. Normally, those emails indicate steps you can take in order to protect your computer. This is
often a scam. Before following the instructions, search on fake email or hoaxes in your favorite search engine.

- Verify the presence of spyware and adware. Your computer may have spyware (identity spies) or adware (invasive advertising programs) if several advertisement pop-ups appear on many pages you browse, if the configuration of your browser has been modified or if your computer is slower than usual when you navigate.

- Always use anti-spyware programs together with an antivirus to give your computer maximum protection against spyware and other vicious programs.

- Verify your browser’s security configurations. Do not allow programs to be installed without your permission. As standard configuration, most browsers alert you with a security warning in order to continue or abort the installation process of a program.

- Carefully read the advertisements in pop-up windows. If you do not intend to install a program or if you are unsure about what that program does, cancel the installation process.

Before downloading and installing programs, research the program and the company supplying it.

Always use the last available version of your browser. Browsers do updates and repair security problems of former versions.
